I would say they don't really fire up. They do change colour depth and pattern with age though.
EG;
Male chahoua at 6 weeks old
And at adult age
Gargoyles on the other hand do fire up:
EG;
Normal

Wow Jackie, they are stunning!! The top picture looks like (I believe) my female Gehyra the other night, she was completely Chocolate coloured, but is now back to being mottled grey again. If I'd been quicker and she'd been slower I mght have even got a picture
