It' not pleasant and there's no 100% DEFINITE cure from what i know, you can treat the secondaries and symptoms but not the cause. Boil and cool all water you give as 1)crypto is in our water so it'll be more susceptible to the effects probably? 2)boiled and cooled water is easier on the system.

Clean clean clean and quarantine to the maximum you can.

I had a corn snake with crypto in 2004 developed a minging lump in it's stomach that moved and changed shpe and was just gas but i quarantined it and the crypto never passed although the snake did die everything was tried such as avipro, critical care, reptoboost, broad spectrum parasite killers, pureed food etc.

Some make it but they shed the oocysts for i think 6months after much like puppies with parvo so don't breed from it for a long time after as the disease can spread and lay dormant so practically you need to be prepared for any of the animals to have it and be ready to shift them into quarantine as soon as it's spotted.

Sorry to hear that mate Sad

Rachel I think you and others are missing the point of QT... it should be done BEFORE putting the snake in the same room as the rest of the collection and not after the snake has been added and then shows signs of something nasty. I'm really suprised people who have thousands of pounds worth of snakes don't do it.

Mate i'm sorry to hear your bad news Sad if theres anyway i can help you only need to ring me mate anytime, even if you just need to talk.

You should hopefully get a favourable response from whom the spider came from and some kind of recompense at the least.

not much else to add 'cept all the best.

Yes i undersatand quarantine fine lol e.g all animals here go into a seperate room for 6months before in the same room as others BUT if it's already in the same room there's no point going into that then? Also the case with a corn i had 2yrs back with crypto it showed after 3months when i only used 3mnths then and it was already in with the collection so barrier care was all that could be done, you may as well try and limit damage by removing the problem as opposed to leaving it and hoping because it's the oocysts in crypto which spread in the air and through hosts e.g us so if it's not in the same area those who show no symptoms may not yet have it and may still be fine but must just be watched and moved if and when symptoms show. All you can do once you have a problem is try and restrict it
