Thinking about breeding my own rats, but don't want to keep em in the house (am allergic to all things fury! Shocked) Can I keep them in my outhouse? It has a roof but is not an enclosed space! Just wondered as obviously they would be exposed to the elements.

As long as they have some shelter and cant get wet then i dont seem why not. I keep mind in the shed and they seem fine.

Mine were in the garage with no problems. They prefer it a bit cooler.

If it's not enclosed I wouldn'teep them in there.
They may be fine if they were in tubs that gave them some protection but I doubt they'd breed in this weather!!!!!!

When I put mine in the shed I'm lining it and putting them on heatmats in the Winter.

Thank for the info guys, I'll have a think... maybe a wood rack style enclosure with plastic tubs would be best...
