It should have an area (hide box) which is around 70-80%. Don't let the cage get much below 60%.

i usually don't look into the humidity too much... different area's of the cage have more humidity than others, so watch how you measure it - substrate can be a factor which might accumulate more humidity than others. I don't believe bark as a good substrate because it is already very damp.

I keep mine at about 60% generally, but i have one girl who loves vivariums, and her humidity rarely goes above 30% in the viv.. (dependant on where i measure ofcourse, and i use aspen, and newspaper, which are good for holding in humidity where they hide), and she rarely sheds without bother. As far as i'm aware.. too much humidity (>60-70%)= Respiritatory infections, and too little = bad sheds, and if very low = respiratory infections (RI). If mine feed regularly they shed easy. I rarely spray their tanks, and never had any bother, only the odd stuck shed. Younger royals are more easily affected with bad sheds (although, not many of mine were affected from them), which is very easy to sort. I'm more afraid of RI, and having to much humidity, which can also cause scale rot... so i prefer just to leave them. If you have a well ventilated cage (too ventilated), and start noticing bad sheds, and your snake is feeding, might be worth closing off some of the vents..

These are some of my observations and some of what i've read.

At shed time I usually bung a big handfull of moss in the hide, and spray daily. If I dont they usually shed rubbish. The rest of the time I have a tupperware tub withmoss in it and spray the tank daily.
