how long do they live rick? I heard that they look after their young too, fascinating critters

Mine lived about three months fiddly wee things, very nice, did not find them that hardy. I probably did something wrong and sent them to the wormerey in the sky before they should have gone. Humidity / moisture levels of their tank may well have been the cause of their demise. Probably my inexperience of keeping them.

think you had one of the new zealand species, they need to be kept quite cool. A lot of people keep them in mini fridges or wine cooler type jobs.

Yes mine were the NZ species probably got a bit to warm.
