Well I seen it with my glauertis. But is it only spenceri among the varanus that does this since the other are odatria? What about crocdoc have you seen it with your varius?

It seems to be an Australian trait as I have never seen it in African, Asian or Indo species.
As anyone witnessed it in none Australian species? |

(sorry, been overseas)
Yes, I have seen this in my varius once or twice, in a young male. In one instance it was in response to something unfamiliar catching his attention: his head raised up and his tail started to undulate. |

i happend to see it a few day's ago with my sub-adult probably male varanus melinus.
i catched him of guard he was digging and while looking up to check if the coast was clear he saw me, and started moving his tail like a sidewinder as you noticed before.
i haven't seen my previous indicus show this kind of behavouir.
this was the only time i ever saw it.
