Q1 Can I use any specific real plants in my Beardie`s viv?
Q2 Are air plants too, but are they dangerous to lizards?
Q3 Could I glue-gun them to braches, etc.?
Q4 Would they have to go higher, up out of reach?
Q5 Would the plants die with temps and humidity?

The air plants look brilliant in the viv, I bought half a dozen back in January/February but all died with my humid substrate and crickets would have done better if they were planted higher up. Not sure if there dangerous if ingested the crickets were fine and so was the hungry gits that ate them .

Air plants (tillisandia sp) would do OK in the vivarium as its a dry habitat, they would need light mistings occasionally but with ventalation this shoudnt be a problem.


to attach them use either hot glue (that has cooled a little) and then wire them there until the glue has dried completly. Or you could use the air plant glue sold for them.

As for harming the lizards I am not sure, but they do look good in a semi arid setup, they just dont do great in a dart frog viv

Another nice choice for a more natural looking viv (tho these dont come from the same place as bearded dragons) are living stones (lithrop sp)
basically dont need any water accept in winter but sice they will be in a viv they wont have a winter so a small amount of water every couple months or less would suffice.

to stop these being dug up get a short lenght (as long as your substrate is deep) of 2 inch drain pipe/ PVC pipe drill a few wholes in the pipe on all sides, then silicone this to the base of the viv..... fill about half with gravel or LECA then plant the lithrop in a good gritty mixture.

you could also do that with aloe's or some scrubby grass's depending on what the dragons are likely to do to it.

OOOH, the possibilities are endless! Now to find somewhere local that sells air plants! Living in rural Wales, everything is an hrs drive away!!!!!! Might get lucky in our flower shop! Fingers crossed!

I bought an air plant and stuck in on a rock in my leos viv, it looked great... for all of 2 secs.

The locust made a beeline for it and that was that
