i've recently built a new tank for my nile monitor. i've introduced some new branches (which were thoroughly washed, bleached, soaked then washed again).
since being in his new tank he has developed some white marks or loss of scales over his body. could this be bites from mites or maybe he's getting too close to his basking lamp? if mites, how do you recommend riding them? any help. please _________________ Nile Monitor x 1

Mites would be more likely to be black or red, and they're hard to see with the naked eye. A burn would make the skin look black, so it's unlikely to be that.
If you are worried, you could take him to your vets for a check up. _________________

the best way to see if you have mites in the enclosure is to take a look at his water bowl if there are any in there you will see them floating |

cheers both. i'll take him along to a local vet i think. see what they say. it looks strange, just like he's missing scales. there's no burn (black mark) or scab. just white skin. _________________ Nile Monitor x 1

One of my snakes lost a scale during a shed. It looked like this: _________________
