Hi all, I've decided to start breeding, I got the Royal Python addiction good and proper. Problem is, I'm not sure what sex my Royal is.

I'm not sure what to do at this point, I'd get it done by a pro, but - here's the problem- there is no-one near me who I know who I'd trust to do it properly.

So, should I attempt it myself? Or should I search around and find an experienced herp to show me how it's done? In which case, is anyone here in the Oxfordshire area and willing to show me how it's done? Or should I go by visual indications (which point to female - long tail and short spurs) and get a male?

I'd be willing to try it myself if there was no other choice, but I'd like to ideally minimize the chances and get the snake sexed by someone much more experienced than me.

hi Alex, go for someone experianced to sex it.

Probing is very simple but ideally you should watch and learn the technique from someone else first.

Are there any reptile shops that could do it for you?

not that I'd trust to do it near by. my local (20 miles away) exotic pet shop has trouble enough keeping their animals in good condition let alone perform a risky procedure with someone elses animal.

how about taking it to one of the coming shows?

Ask a breeder to sex it there for you ?
