my males have only just reached what write ups class as sexal maturity so i am waiting with baited breath to see if i have the joy of little baby rats, my firneds have just had another litter of four they are very sweet, im lucky i get to see them 5 days a week and love every mintue of it,

have you had any breeding yet?

The nearest I see is the male being chased round the cages with the female biting his HUGE nads

Did your friend seperate the pair of keep them together the whole time? Anything else that may of stimulated them into to breeding?

They are kept together 24/7 (my mates pair i mean) even when she has given birth. they like you had no breeding for the first year then all of a sudden they were popping babies out left right and centre. I will ask for some of their husbandry information if you like? see if there is anything they do you could try.

We are just leaving ours together and seeing what happens, if we get no young ourselves no big loss i got these becuase i loved them and their lifespan is much greater than the domesticated rat. But any young arriv its a bonus.

what house do you keep yours in? i noticed you have a plastic base do they chew through it at all?

i know they drag anything through the bars they can they managed to drag through a pair of rays favourite trousers (boy was i in the dog house that week)
