Hi everyone we're back!
Bud had a shot of oxytocin and a calcium booster shot as she had not eaten for a couple of days. Laid about a dozen eggs since the inducement and looking a lot slimmer and more relaxed albeit still tired. Much brighter green now too. Have not checked nesting box to see if she had laid any eggs before the vets visit - will do that in a mo when we give her a Reptiboost bath. If no eggs in pot and she doest lay anymore will take her back for an xray to check no eggs left. Good news is she passed a clutch of white eggs so no no dead ones blocking the way from last time and next 48 hours will monitor closely with heaps of TLC.
She was star of the show at the vets and good as gold, no hissing or puffing. Fingers crossed for next couple of days!
Thanks everyone xxxxxx |

I'm so glad to hear that she is doing better!
I had a feeling it was related to the calcium levels which is why I was asking all the questions I did originally. Even if a chameleon is well cared for, constant egglaying can drain the calcium more than we often realize. |

Yep we knew she was low because of no feeding, but usually we tempt her with dusted wax worms during this time, once she went off them we knew we had to get some thing inside her. Jerry is hand watering her with a pet medicine syringe so we know she is drinking, just had her Reptoboost bath - seemed to like that rinsed and dried off and up under the heat lamp for bedtime TV.
Nice pale but bright green now and looking much happier. No eggs in pot so if no more come out will do the xray if nothing else so we satisfy ourselves that she is OK and maybe her egg production has just slowed down.
We have kept a diary of Buds shedding and egg laying since a babe so we know to the week, if not the day, when to look for signs and put the pot in so we can be a bit more pre-emptive from now on. Good news is we have found a local vet that's a herp and rep keeper and they have a special rep room with incubator and lots of rep vitamins and medication in stock |
