The following are pictures of our mock vipers, Psammodynastes sp.
First the common form:
Now a few pics of one of the reds next to a normal female for comparison:
Technically they don't belong here but there is information verifying they do posess venom. I was going to take one of these animals to someone more qualified than i tomorrow to chat about the teeth in these but recent events have forced me to postpone my Tassimo so i now have to work
Still, the pics here show the genus quite nicely i think. Bet ya thought it was gonna be about proper vipers huh? _________________ TFA

The first ones at first glance remind me of fer de lance. Where are they from Dan? (Geographically I mean). _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Peter, they are primarily from Malaysia although there are small populations spread through out Asia, or so i am told.
Mattie, err yes
Basically they are labelled as rear fanged, however.....
I am convinced they possess a set of front fangs (possibly hinged, yeah i know, unlikely) aswell. I have tried many times to get a photo of them but getting a pic is extremely hard work, they clamp down on anything in the mouth unlike other snakes so getting a good look is very hard work, especially when you consider these are adult snakes at around 12 inches with front fangs that i would suggest are no more than 3mm in length.
As mentioned i was going to take them to someone tomorrow to have a look at them and so i could get a pic (my wife will not hold them) of exactly what i am talking about, this has been postponed though so will have to wait. _________________ TFA
