|
|
Just recently (Thursday) acquired a juvenile female carpet chameleon. She is very sluggish and is sleeping all day! I'm really worried. The temperatures are fine, and humidity is high. I've offered food, but she hasn't taken any as far as I'm aware. I have noticed a tiny bit of blackish crust around/below the vent. I gave this a gentle wipe with cotton wool and warm water, and some came away, but there's still a little left. The cotton wool had a little bit of yellow on it when I'd wiped. Could this be a blockage e.g. dried faeces, or blood!? I have read a bit about cloacitisis, but there appears to be no swelling, and also it doesn't appear tender as she doesn't flinch when I wipe her.
Any help would be great...do you think I should take her to a vet, or buy some treatment (general wide range antibiotics?)
Cheers all |

Joe is she in with the male? try putting her in a small penpal or the like maybe she is over awed by the move and everything, maybe Albert is snarfing all the grub, if she is stressed maybe she isnt getting enough ro drink hence the dried feaces i.e a bit of constipation also a thirsty chameleon wont eat, try putting her on her own giving her a nice warm long spray and some small grub. Hope that helps hun, Rick will be along soon with info i am sure, try not to worry _________________

Cheers Karen. Will do that today. It doesn't appear that she's stressed about Albert though. The new environment....maybe. Albert and her have not paid any attention to one another (but I suppose she could feel stressed just by his presence).
She wouldnt take food from me directly, and I offered her water as well, which she wouldn't take. I've been regularly spraying the tank, so how she has become dehydrated I don't know. It's all very worrying, and I've already got two exam to worry about tomorrow and Tuesday!!!! |

Joe hun she may not be deyhadrated she may just be stressed, chams are odd little things it doesnt take much to freak them out, try giving her a little time on her own and see how she does, and good luck with yr exams. _________________

If I get one of those plastic jobbies with the vented lid, what size do you reckon? |
