I think Cresties can see red light.
I have some red LEDS that I use with my Cave Geckos - i'm pretty sure that they can't see them, as their pupils stay large when they're on.
However, when I put the red lights up by my Cresties, their pupils shrink down, indicating that they can detect the light.
Hope that's of some help _________________ Sophie

Which Red bulb are you using? I've found that the cheaper red bulbs are not red glass and do let some white light through.
We have the Exo Terra Heat Glo bulb over our Cresties now and they are out all the time (well from the evening onwards). Their eyes are fully open too so I don't think that they can see the red light. _________________ 0.1.0 - Royal Pythons

Well that bulb is proper red glass to so it should be okay. What temp do you keep the viv at? We keep ours at about 76F with a drop at night to around 65F and an odd high of about 78F-80F. The Red bulb is on 24/7 on a dimmer.
From what you say it sounds like you're keeping the temp under 70F? _________________ 0.1.0 - Royal Pythons
