With resoect, there is a wealth of information available, use google and these boards instead of asking a question and waiting for everyone to serve you.
Keeping 4 chameleons together is NOT good practice, they are in the most part solitary animals.
As for the 'tank' this needs to be a well vented chameleon specific enclosure.

www.ukchameleons.co.uk is an excellent site for starters, and should cover most info you'll need. _________________

As Gary said although it's possible a group set up isn't the norm. for yemens, I noticed also you said when you get back from school, is this your first reptile? if so would it not be better to go for 1.1 and keep them separate until you have experience and know what to look out for as for illness, aggression etc?
I know I would not have been ready to cope with 4 of my lil chappie together, in my first few months of keeping, they are incredibly easy to look after now I know what I am doing, but there are still concerns I have about mating my two etc and they don't live together.
It's only my opinion of course and I know Rick will give you and help and support you require, but in general I would not recommend buying so many in one go unless you have vast reptile experience. good luck in whatever you choose! |

i would recommend a lateralis major(carpet chameleon) as your first chameleon,i think you will have more fun with one of these and they are shorter lived. i think there winners as one of the best starter chameleons |

I agree with Daisyleo.
Is that why you want to have 4 yemans and keep them in group just because you want full fill your "challenge. Keeping geckos and bearded dragons are totally different although they are still reptiles. I have them too but I won't put any of my chameleons in my geckos / beardies set up, it will kill the cham within days. And I honestly don't think any breeder will keep 4 cham together unless they are still babies, it stress the cham in big time, even keeping them in groups is still possible.
At the end of course it is still your decision. |

Personally I would suggest keeping yemen's on their own given the circumstances, e.g. your first chameleon etc.
Group housing of Yemens has been conducted successfully by quite a few keepers over a lengthy period of time. To achieve this though requires very exacting housing environments and plenty of observation time. Speaking experientially; I can say to achieve this there are certain guidelines that must be strictly adhered to.
Although a controversial subject, as those who have followed certain threads will attest to There are no absolutes. I will not go into great detail about group housing as this has been covered over many pages on this forum within the chameleon threads. Suffice to say there are three distinct viewpoints regarding this controversial topic. Yes it can be done, no it cant be done and yes it has been done.
If looking to group house I would suggest Carpet Chameleons possibly, but again please take into consideration that this will you be your first time keeping a cham. Whatever though only one male per enclosure.
I am sure no one posting here wishes to negate your knowledge or experience of other reptiles so please do not take this the wrong way.
You have asked an open question in a courteous manner and deserve honest courteous replies in my opinion.
We are all here to help and to offer advice from our own experience of keeping Chameleons and can relay to you or own observations of husbandry etc. Peoples views and experiences will differ enormously at times for many varied reasons. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
