fake rock/cave for my friends leopard geckos.
It's not finished, I'm going to add some darker sand on the edges and some small amounts of reindeer moss.

I covered the polystyrene with grey grout then I painted on a PVA/water mix, Then while the PVA/water mix was still wet I covered it with childrens play sand. I did this twice. _________________

I really enjoyed making it. I'm making a large fake rock background that's attached to wood so I can take it out of my tank so I can easily clean it. If I make some more fake rocks I might not use tile grout. I have made some smaller rocks using only polystyrene and covered it in PVA/water mix then covered it with childrens play sand (two coats) and it seems to be very strong and looks just as good as this one.
My wife, family and friends have told me I should make some more and see if I could sell them on Ebay. _________________

really great looking rocks, the added moss in the bottom pic makes it look very naturalistic.
just finished making a rock wall for my beardies and a big rock floor/sink edge/wall for our salvator monitor _________________ 0.1.0 Royal Python - Wednesday - CB04

Thanks for the comments...
You can't see it in the picture but I chopped up some light and dark green reindeer moss and mixed it in with some darker sand, I painted on PVA glue to the edges and grooves then I sprinkled on the sand mix. I also glued lots of reindeer moss to the inside of the cave.
My friend's really pleased with it and his geckos love it. _________________
