Well, I got me a brand spanking new camera a month or two ago, so I thought i'd better get out and use it!
I made my first macro attempts on readily available indoor subjects, for a bit of practice:
A cricket (yuk, horrible things!!!). I don't think much to this picture anymore - not now that i've had a bit more practice/success!
And a two-pence piece
Well, now spring is here I headed off into the wilderness (my back garden ) on the hunt for big killer beasties....
I started off with reasonably stationary objects...
Then moved onto slightly more difficult, mobile subjects! This butterfly took ages to get, kept seeing me crawling across the lawn
Found a black millipede, who insisted that he didn't want to stand still well, to be fair, if I had that many legs i'd be inclined to use them to get away from a great big eye staring down at me...
Then a wolf spider, basking by my pond:
Had to hand-hold the camera on this one, so no solid support...came out fairly reasonably though!
Found a little zebra spider, who just had the cutest expression on his face!!!
And finally, a lovely ladybird:
I've always been fascinated by the little things, it's nice to be able to go a bit further than what the eye can usually see
Hope you enjoyed my little back garden safari I certainly did, got my knees a bit muddy and grass-stained though _________________ Sophie

Thank Peter
It wasn't really that expensive - i'm on a student budget so can't afford all this DSLR malarkey (I wish though!)
The actual macro lens that fits onto the camera was £15 _________________ Sophie

I didn't think so after browsing through previous threads
Besides, there's a 'feeder' photo in there

It's a Panasonic FZ50, and these photos were taken with the snap-on Raynox 150 macro lens whacked on the end _________________ Sophie

Wow fantastic images. Thanks for sharing. I love them all but my favourite is the zebra spider - brilliant detail. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

Have to agree with Jackie. Fantastic shots but the Zebra gets 1st place!
Maybe you should try and get a bit closer to them so the spider takes up the whole photo. Those eyes! _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |
