|
|
Here are a few pics of the new Albig enclosure. It is 12'x8'x5' with about 2' of soil/sand mix for substrate (in case you are wondering that's around 8 ton of substrate! Not very good for your back at all!)
For size referance the male albig in the first picture is just over 4'.
All three settled in together really well!
It didn't take long for them to get back to doing what they do best! lol!
Here are a few pics of the little Argus too. I have never seen anything with a feeding response like it! He can put away 6-8 large rat pups a day no problem!

Some very nice animals you have there Rick
Is the enclosure you have in the first pic a converted garage?

Haha! Ye the Albig viv is in the garage. Its 20' long but only 8' wide. I still have a bit more room to play in there tho
Yep, I'm the electricity boards best friend £120 a month through the winter but should tail off a bit now as all of the CHE's are on stats so wont be on as much if at all.

Looking good Rick...plenty of space and substrate to burrow in.
How many watts have you got running in there? are you using any additional heat sources besides the ones shown in the pics? i was thinking of doing the same thing with my coal house. |

Cheers! I have changed the heating a bit since the pictures. I use a 150w and a 250w che on dimming stats 24/7. They are usually off all day and just on for short periods in the night.
There are now only two separate basking spots (instead of 3) each made up of a bank 5 60w par 38 floods in a row. So that is 600w for 12 hours, and then the night temps as required.
O, almost forgot, i also have 2 4' florescent lights on for 12 hours with the basking lights

It was my garage full of junk before i converted it into my reptile house. It works really well actually, the temps are pretty constant all year round and it is separate isolate enough from the house so i cant hear damn crickets chirping all night! lol!
