Hey guys just looking for abit of advice form some Royal keppers......
I've recently found out that someone is keeping a Royal in what I think is bad conditions.
The has no heat mat but has a heatlamp in the viv but has no cover on it. Is it ok for a Royal just to have a lamp?
Aswell as far as I know the person also left a rat in the viv for nealry a week as far as I am aware it is best only to leave the rat in over night and they only left it out for an hour to thaw.
The snake is about 3ft to 4ft and is being kept in a viv thats only about 2ft long. Is this big enough?
I'm not sure what to do about this, I'd like to do something to help the snake and another worrying thing is that this isn't the only reptile this person has, they have a Corn that sheds in bit and had never had a full shed. I also know that the person used to keep Scorpions and when one of them stung him, he crushed the Scorpion in his hand!
Any advice is very welcome!

that guy sounds like an idiot.
i hope the bulb is at least on a thermostat. it depends on what wattage the bulb is and what type of bulb it is.
ive changed from using an exo terra red bulb to a heat mat, i believe a heat mat is far easier to maintain a ground temperature and is more likely to increase humidity.
as far as leaving a rat in for a week is a disgrace for obvious reasons |

I don't think it is. I haven't actually been in the house myself but one of my friends have, she doesn't know anything about reptiles. I don't know whether to phone the SSPCA or not. I'm really concerned about the animals he has and its starting to really annoy me that I know these animals are living in sich poor conditions. _________________ Hannah
