Hi Guys,
Sorry if starting a new thread on a similar topic is a no no...
If you have been following my other thread, about Webster (http://www.captivebred.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9830) you may have seen this....
anyways - this is what a really bad case of impaction looks like from the inside.... - All the cloudy mass on the right of the image (the left side of webster ) is backed up undigested food....
I will keep updates posted on webster in the original thread - thought this would be a good one for this subject.. |

That's a heckuva impaction alright, it looks to be mostly mouse hair. It appears to be in the stomach; if so, a vet should be able to remove most of it via the mouth using an endoscope and forceps, and encourage the rest to pass through by flushing with saline.
Hair impactions in monitors usually indicate a history of chronically low body temperatures.
Best of luck with this animal. |

It could well be. The Colon is completley backed up too. Regards the temp - i would say without doubt this is what caused it. The person i am fostering for kept webster around 75 degrees. This she must have misread the book on that one and didn't notice that should be night time temps...
Still - had webster out last night and she was a hell of a lot more perky, perhaps the vets finger managed to dislodge some of it... |

Good luck hope it sorts itself out just shows what damage impaction can cause and how big an obstruction can build up. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
