My apologies for posting these videos out of sequence. This was filmed in December, when the female was carrying ripe ova (quite noticeable in the video) and the male was more than just a bit interested.
There's one funny bit when the female has gone around the corner, then climbed up the rockwork above the male but he can't see her, so he's following her scent and head twitching until he figures out where she is (although we can see both of them, she's out of his line of sight).

Great video!
When they lost the female of their sight after an attempting their attitude change automatically to a foolish monitor with a broken jacobson organ.Keeping smelling rocks and logs and the female is just 1 foot away from them.I know it must be a fairly explanation about that...
Cheers

My male lace monitor does something similar when the female is receptive. The pheromone 'scent' seems so overwhelming that he'll spend several minutes tongueflicking a spot where the female had been, even if it means ignoring the actual female a short distance away. |

I have footage of them taken from both within and outside the enclosure. That sequence was taken from the outside, through glass.
Although they've lost their fear of people (they rush the keepers now, thinking food is on offer), they're not quite at the stage where they'll mate with someone standing over them with a camera (unlike the shameless lace monitors I keep at home). |
