As far as parasite analysis goes, i think most vets will be able to screen samples for you. If not, I can speak to my parasitology professors Wink

Surely that would have to be a reptile specific vet, not sure there are many round here. plus they are normally v.expensive. I dont have a specific problem, just want to screen som LTC stock before mixing it with CB. Have considerd getting the textbook and 'scope out myself Sam, but probs best left to the pros!

I believe all vets are trained in parasite recognition, so I think your local vet should eb able to do it... saying that why not just ask? I will speak to the people at my Vet school if you wish..wnat to try and ultrasound one of my salamander's too...

hehe! partly to see if she is gravid or just fat, and partly to see what they look like under ultrasound!

do you think there could be any negative effects of ultrasound on salamanders? especially as they are susceptable to stress.

the stress thing is a bit of an issue...but this is my tamest female tiger-the most stressed she gets is when she cant reach the food fast enough! Wink I belive ultrasound in amphibians is done through a plastic water container, with good results and minimal stress

Not overly likely, but there is a chance. Mainly its to refine my own ultrasound technique and scam a one on one session with one of THE leading ultrasound experts. When I get my own practice with my own ultrasound machine I can see me working more on amphibian diagnostic imaging.
