How often do you feed your ackies and what do you feed them and how much.

can you give me answers from babies up to adults as no care sheet seems to give you a guide line .

I realise that all monitors are different just like every other reptile. But i would like a rough guide line if that is poss.
I have pm certain people but the more info i get the better thanks guys.
Thanks Neil

The answer is pretty simple on my feeding schedule, I feed all that they will eat.

They have locust everyday, and pinks/fluffs every 3 days.

If there are locust left by the following day I miss a day, if there are rodents left, I leave them another.

Once they reach an adult size I just try to balance it so that they don't get fat but still maintain a good body weight, this is based on 'my' judgement. Others may keep theirs fatter or thiner.

There was a real in depth article written by an experianced monitor breeder, it was EIGHT words long and he swore by it..."the more you feed, the more you breed", I've since seen the updated version which is "heat um, Feed um" and "the more you READ, the LESS you Breed!"

Thanks Scott

Do you have to add any extra supplements for calcium or any other Vitamins .

If so what are they and what type do you use.

Neil.

Ps Do you do the same for other dwarf monitors or are they all different in feeding.

I treat mine all pretty much the same. I dust insect food in either Nutrabol or Nekton, this is at least once per week (if they are not eating rodents yet, I dust every feed).

The substrate I use is pure calcium too, this disolves in the water dishes a little providing more supplements.
