Mememe, you really are missing out. Phelsuma geckos really are fantastic terrarium subjects.

It is true that Phelsuma barbouri aka Barbour's Day Gecko is not your 'typical' Day Gecko in terms of husbandry. If their needs are met, i find them to be no less demanding than other Phelsuma. Paying close attention to detail is very important with this species.

1.2 free range Kochi, 1.2 caged madagascarensis. I am growing these on to let free range too.

I must admit Scott, i have never tried 'free range' phelsumas, not intentionally anyway!!!!

I find with my Day Geckos that if kept in trios, a hierarchy is formed between the girls and the more dominant one prevents the other from producing any eggs. If breeding is your goal, i would suggest keeping Phelsuma in pairs. In a 'free range' situation like your own, the females have enough of a territory to prevent, to a lesser degree, this dominance occuring.

I will post some pictures of my geckos once i get a good quality camera. My thinking is, money spent on a camera is money that ISN'T spent on more animals!!!! Smile

Hi Cleef, Phelsuma laticauda aka the Gold Dust Day Gecko is probubly one of the more commonly bred species here in the UK, even so, they are not 'mass produced'.

I have 4.4.1 Gold Dust Day Geckos and produced several babies last year. I am hoping for similar success this year.

I bought the Day Geckos book by Eric M Rundquist ages ago, Laticauda were always on my wish list but was never allowed them Sad.

They look truly striking, and do well in captivity I believe, how do you find them?

Good luck with the breeding this year Wink
