I have a definate male, My oldest bosc Don did a huge poop in front of me after feeding yesterday and out popped two of the proudest little cocktail sausages i have ever seen Laughing I am a little disappointed he's male as I have a feeling Goliath is going to be male aswell but as I was interested in cohabitation rather than breeding im not too let down.

Has anyone any idea how males react to eachother, are they dominant after maturity or has anyone accidently kept two males together believing them to be opposite sex and never had any problems? I havent come across many pairs of boscs on the other forum I go on so I was wondering what people have experienced.

Females have cocktail sausages too in Varanids.. hemiclitori. Unless you have already seen a confirmed male evert, for comparison, it would be difficult to say for sure.

Cheers

Mwoxy is correct in that females have hemiclitori that can be everted on occasion. However, I still stick with my earlier statement that your larger sav is probably a male.

As far as keeping two males together, that depends on the individuals. If the smaller one does turn out to be male, the first thing you'll have going against you is that you can't raise them together because of their size difference. If you could, they'd have a chance to become familiar before the hormones kick in.

On the other hand, sometimes males get along as long as there is no female present. The only way you'll ever be able to find out one way or another is the nerve-wracking method of putting them together when they are of near equal size, observe carefully and hope for the best.

Well i thought females have a bit of a cauliflower shape thing on their sausages and don doesnt. He definately looked male anyway, i've seen the different protrusions before in pictures and he's certainly a boy, and a big one at that, im so proud.

I will try to see what their like near eachother in the future, even if they can only see through the barrier and not actually get to eachother, just so i can test what they'd be like, anyone would be curious im sure. There isn't ever going to be a female if they are two boys, unless i do get another in the future but if they do get along I probably wont bother getting one cuz i dont really think i have the experience to produce babies yet, though I'd maybe consider it in the future.

Yes. But if they are only partially everted it can be hard to tell. They usually don't fully evert when defecating.

Not really. I already told you that your larger monitor appears to be a young male and I still think it most likely is.

I'd like to know why you think the little baby is a male, also, though.

Just from his characteristics and difference in behavior. He's more of a digger and a swimmer and has alot more attitude. Obviously these aren't rock solid differences but i did think i definately have two different sexed boscs rather than the same, based on behavior patterns.
