|
|
Bud went into nesting last Saturday and all seemed fine until Sunday morning we noticed a sticky residue hanging from rear end. We gently removed the residued and 2 eggs came with it.
She looked a lot happier and headed back down to the pot. Now she is back up and about but looks dull and is drinking but not eating.
I am now sure I can see the outline of a couple of eggs in her side just above her leg. Is there anything we can do ? |

Has she laid any eggs or just the two you helped remove from her?
If she is egg bound and not laying then a trip to the vets for an injection that will induce her. This is a very aggressive and stressful treatment though. Sorry am not to clear form your post if she has only produced those two eggs. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Have not looked in the pot yet, she is back in it this morning. Did not want to disturb things whilst she's still going back down, but Jerry is home today due to snow and will look in pot as soon as she comes out. i think she has laid some but will do a count and that will give us an idea how many may be still inside.
Thanks Rick, be back with egg count later |

Forgot to say, she was looking absolutely exhausted Sunday, could barely climb before we removed the blockage but had more energy afterwards so we thought we had done the trick and she had passed th eremaining eggs - thats why I think she has laid some. |

If she is rooting about in the egg laying tub then hopefully she will be ok, they can drag it out for a good few days at times! Main thing is they do not dehydrate durring this time. If she can lay them naturally this is much preferable to being induced. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Yes she is definitely still digging and scratching around and drinking well, so maybe we hold fire on any drastic action - shall we check the pot or leave her alone? |

I would leave her alone she will hopefully lay the eggs then cover them up when she has finished. Too much disturbance may well put her off. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
