i have had my leopard geckos for about a month now and they are still not eating rite. i tried different types of crickets and i put about 7 in for half an hour but they only seem 2 eat about 2 or 3 each. plz help

Try some mealworms in a bowl dusted liberally with calcium. I feed mine via a bowl else the mealies tend to wander into the water bowl and commit suicide! If they are small gex use mini mealworms.

Good luck let us know how it goes. Have they eaten anything at all since you have had them?

Are you feeding them at night? Not being nosey but how are you keeping them sometimes temps etc can affect feeding.

well i feed them at night and the temps are always around 20-25 degreees. well i will go on the weekend and buy sum mealworms. what size bowl do you put them in???

Some leos slow down in winter, and some are picky eaters. I would do as Rick suggested and try mealies or roaches, etc. Some of mine will get picky now and then. All my leos are on mealies as a staple, but sometimes they love occasional crickets or roaches to liven the thrill of the hunt! :) My adults typically are fed three times a week and they will eat anywhere from 5-20 mealies a night, depending on the leo.

As for temps; I keep my at 87-90 F degrees on the warm side and around 80 F on the cool side during the day. At night, the herp room I have goes down 10-12 degrees. Your temps seem a little low, IMO.

As for the types of dish I personally use; I use little glass bowls that are about 2 inches high and 3-4 inches across the top. They are clear glass, so the animals see the mealies in the dishes and the glass is thick enough that the dish is heavy enough to prevent the leos from tipping them over.

Rick was correct in saying that mealies are suicidal. They are as bad as crickets, they find ways in the water dishes but no way out. ha ha

If the leo doesn't pick up eating soon, I would strongly suggest a fecal test. Sometimes herps get stressed when moved around and that can cause an outbreak of parasites, etc. Also, crickets and other feeders can transmit parasites as well .... that is why I always recommend a yearly or bi-yearly fecal for any small herp hobbyist. :)

I use the mason cash ceramic dishes same size as in the previous post. All my leos love their mealies. Much easier to dish feed them as calcium can be added easily, I also have another dish with just calcium in it available for them. My leos also take small - medium roaches and crickets, but their staple diet are mealies. Mine have not slowed down at all for the winter, but the room they are in is quite hot and their housing temps are within the ranges already mentioned.
