I have to agree with the camp of purists, I think to mix and match is heading for trouble, when the animals are gone from the wild the various geographical morphs/subspecies (lets not get into that debate ) will be so diluted in the captive populations that they will be lost forever. Shame. Albinism, leucistic and erythristic all occur naturally so are not so bad but still I like 'em pure.
Mixing of genes can also be very beneficial for a captive populations, so on the other hand there may be a positive effect, but still I like my snakes to be as they are in the wild.

Sorry, but I get annoyed with the 'theres nothing wrong with it, we cross to make mongrels' tripe.
Just because royals and burms are both legless and scaly doesn't make them any less different from each other than a pair of four legged furries.
What you're looking at is more like crossing a lion and a tiger, and you don't want to know the medical problems ligers and tigons have _________________

hybrids amaze and fascinate me, i think the whole "playing god" thing goes out the window unless you artificially inseminate or genetically engineer these animals, allowing two different animals to breed whether or not individuals think its morally or ethically correct, is just a matter of husbandry and either they will or they wont breed, you cant force them to, now that would be playing god. _________________ "perfection in miniature" |

how do you figure its pointless?
a great reason to create hybrids are purely economical ones.
that seems like a damn good point to me. _________________ cardboard city. |
