Hi guys,
As many of you know i used to frequent the forums alot last year, hit alot of personal problems and have been 'away' from the boards for a while.
Im now back on board, a few herps lighter but am going to have another stab at breeding my feeders for my bosc monitor.
I have a big clear plastic 'viv' with a mesh top ( made for keeping bugs in not herps) which is now set up with egg boxes, fresh greens and a tub of bran.
I put 100 very small locusts in the other day and they are munching and thriving.
One end has a flxible lamp set close to the side of the plastic tank to provide a hotspot.
As many of you will nkow i got the buggers up to adults last time, they liad eggs and i fed the adults to my bosc. I then cooked the eggs by placing them on a heatmat - bloody novices eh?! LOL

 Keep the adults, DONT feed off them. 
I take the egg boxes (which you dont need to put in yet , not until yours are adults) out of the breeder tank every ten days. I start a new colony by just putting the egg box in a new tank, and letting them hatch.
Some people take the egg boxes out more frequently than that but you need a lot of breeding bins to do it that way. I have 8 in operation and a constant cycle going on, with different sizes in each bin .
Just make sure that you always have some growing on for replacement breeder stock.

Appreciate the help mate, by egg boxes at the momnet i meant egg boxe's that hag chickend eggs in for surface area! LOL
Will add the egg boxes to lay in once they are riding around on top of each other as you told me last time i believe.
Was all proud i had mating going on last time, then i cooked the eggs! NUMPTY

Should i just leave the tub at room temp next time rather than whacking heatmat under?
Room is at about 75-78

keep the eggs at around 28, they should hatch in around 10 days.

Yeah nice to be settled and back again, shame about my collection having to downsize, kinda put my burmese breeding plans outta the window. At least i still have my adult boas,burms and my monitor.

was going to add a new topic but thought it was relevant here .
i have a tank with my locusts in it , they were a couple of sizes down from adults and were growing well .
but yesterday i noticed one hadnt shed properly and its wings were a bit crooked .
now this morning ive noticed one hasnt managed to shed properly at all and is stuck half in molt .
the temps in there are 24 in the low cool end and about 26 near the light . .
any idea what may be wrong ? or if this does happen now and again . i never noticed it happening last time i bred them though.

way too cold! bring up the temps 30c min with a basking spot up to 40c

need to edit the last post to say i got the temps wrong . .
i was reading my room temps and not the probe temps . .
the probe temp once i had it on the right setting was 35 in the middle . so would have been touching 40 at the light .
any idea why they havent shed properly ?
