All the insects I've used it on failed to climb over it, its is slippery like grease. It may not work with lobsters but its worth a try, i'm hoping Rickeezee will let us all know the outcome.

I will do, when I get a spare moment over the next couple of days will stick some below the Vaseline line and see what happens. Will be a boon if it works well! _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

so you stick the packing tape around the rim and they cant cross the smooth side?
Sounds good but tbh the vaseline is working great at the moment.
Does anyone bother cleaning out lobster tubs? I have done a few times as they leave loads of waste. Its a pain though as I have to spend ages herding them all into one corner before i can sweep up. |

I do clean mine out, no option due to the numbers I have, their waste is allways bone dry so not to bad and they dont smell like crickets do. But cleaning time is a pain yes. No easy way to do this. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Good tip about the parcel tape!
Although I breed non climbers in smooth plastic bins, I do take one precaution to make sure none get out. I use panty hose (well, not the hose part, but the top part) to close off the bins. The largest size fits well over the bins I use. Keeps any roach that might get to the top in and any flies out. |

just a point that I've found works well, instead of vaseline, which I find annoying when you keep touching the side and getting it all over the place, I have in the past used brown parcel tape, the 2 inch wide, thin, shiny stuff, cheap as chips and is pretty permanent. No more mess!

I tried the tape method and sadly it did not work for me, I used brown parcel tape and they just climbed over it so its Vaseline still for me. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
