Quick update.
She spent most of yesterday digging holes and most of today building a large mound of soil in the sleeping box.
So far I've managed to retrieve 8 eggs, some laid outside the nest (white) and the others from inside the nest (stained brown). 3 eggs were found broken in the nest and while the male is admitting to nothing, there was yolk on his chin this morning.
I think there are more eggs still in the nest but the female sort of told me to bog off so I'll have another look tomorrow when she is in a better mood.

She laid on the 27th of Jan last year but it seems she took your advice this year LOL |

Hi Rick
There is another post on here with pictures of the adults.
The enclosure is 4 mtrs x 1.5 mtrs, it has two very large windows to allow in natural day light and is all glass inside the room to give them a feeling of more space. There is also a shelf above the heater that they like to lay on, a large loge for climbing on and a wooden sleeping box.
Substrate is an 8 to 10 inch deep mix of sand, peat, sawdust and a mix of wood and leaves that I get from the local council when they trim the hedgerows. There's about one and a half tons of substrate in total.
I do spot clean any obvious large piles of poo but the soil is rich in worms, woodlice and those small beatles you get in with your crickets and they all work together to keep things clean and tidy meaning I don't have to disturb the adults doing major cleans all the time.
The only other thing is some rough paving slabs under the basking lamps. The slabs stop the substrate getting too hot and hold the heat when the monitors lay on them, they also do an excellent job of keeping their toe nails worn don.
