Heres some poor camera phone pics of my tokay gecko, Viv. I rehomed her from a lad that was going travelling, she was pretty thin (and also called Vivian, after the young ones character, now shes a Vivienne!) but now she is a right chunk. Would love to get her a mate, but am going to have to wait till Ive got time and space to convert the spare wardrobe!
She escaped about a month ago and gave me the run around for a bit, got her own back on me as you will see from the pic! _________________ Tom

Lovely Tokay, that's just a love bite though!
Well done on rescuing her, she seems to be thriving for you. _________________ “If in doubt, just say nowt” |

Great species and very overlooked as has already been mentioned. I have two females here, must get myself a male soon. She will bulk out a fair bit growth wise rather than getting much longer. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Yup, and her jaws will continue to get stronger. They really are the ultimate predator! |

thats what I thought. Have to agree with you on the underrated bit, theyve gotta be one of the most beautiful geckos readily available and are fascinting to watch. Anyone got a male? how noisy are they?
Shes bulking out all the time, fed on crickets and locust with the odd waxworm and morios plus a pinky or fuzzy mouse evey couple of months.
Shes also tamed up alot since she came to me, think this is due to her having a lot more cover now (before her only hides were on the floor!). she will sit still now instead of running and hiding when I walk in and will eat food offered off forceps (havent been brave enough to try hand feeding!) _________________ Tom

Sounds like you're doing everything right mate. Can't wait to see how she progresses!
If you share a bedroom with a tokay then a male isn't a good idea. Once they mature they can be REALLY loud! I was at a mate's in Exeter last year, and his tokay (free roaming and about a foot long) which was 2 rooms away kept me awake all night. |
