Nice pic. What are you feeding it?
Interesting group of snakes in my opinion and very much underrated. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

He is mostly eating salmon. We have tried various other types of fish but he doesnt seem interested. We also tried some worms but again he wasnt interested.
Does anyone have any ideas of anything else we can try to feed him? |

Try getting him on to rodent prey as soon as you can mate. Salmon strips are good in the time being but won't keep him going for long.
Try defrosting a suitably sized rodent and then washing it, dry it off and smear it with a piece of salmon (I always use salmon) to scent the rodent. Make sure you rub the whole rodent with the fish. Then as time goes on you can reduce the amount of the rodent that you scent until finally you can give him unscented rodents.
I have had a good few WC garters and ribbons and gotten all of them on to rodent prey this way. They may not switch right away (but a lot do!), patience is key. |

Theres a problem with feeding him rodent prey. Its called the missus, she wont feed rodent prey.
Is there anything apart from rodent prey I can try feeding him or would you say he needs to be fed rodents?
Thanks

There are other things you could try, but some of them are generally frowned upon in the UK.
If I were in your position I'd be inclined to try Alan Francis' homemade garter food found here |

Have you ever tried T-Rex garter grub?
Ive seen iton the internet but nowhere seems to sell it.
Is it worth trying to find some? |

I did try it once. Only one (out of 5) of the garters I tried it on would take it. So I wasn't totally convinced by it..I'm also not fully convinced by it's nutritional value, since that snake grew at a much slower rate than the others. The snake that would take it was eventually weaned on to rodents and it's growth sped up. |
