Peter, have you ever been to Hamm or Houten? If so you will see some incredible set ups, the rest of Europe beat the UK hands down when it comes to naturalistic vivarium display.
Thomas, any chance of a set by set thread showing/explaining the whole process, even how you cut or burn the polystrene into natural shapes. _________________

Not as yet Scott but I plan to go in September, and have been invited to some Dart frog breeder`s meetings in Holland. Yes from what I have seen of the Dutch and German keepers etc they are well ahead of us lot vivaria technology wise and are expert plant growers too.
I have seen some real nice naturalistic set ups for darts and day gecks but people (over here anyway) don`t seem to bother with the larger species, and I know that dwarf monitors aren`t huge but it`s great to see the set ups on this thread. If and when one day I get my dream Kimberley`s and Mangroves I will be looking to set up as naturalistic set ups as poss. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Like it as been said before those enclosures are the business, they rank amongst some of the best enclosures I have ever seen. I know Bernd Eidenmuller applies the styrofoam rocks as well. I have seen plenty of enclosures on the continent but those are the bomb. Well done!!! |

Sorry to have bumped this from the dead and buried, but just wondered what the chances were of you doing a thread as Scott requested above Thomas? I appreciate it may take a while but it would be a very interesting thread and would inspire us British especially to perhaps be a little more creative.
Persistant aren`t I! _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Thanks for the prompt reply Thomas .
Once again that last project is looking very impressive already at this early stage. Thanks for being willing to share your experiences on the forum. It`s what this place is all about . I look forward to the discussion that your "Step by step" guide will no doubt evoke. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

WOW that's amazing
I've worked with fibre glass and expanding foam on many occasions, I might try this method after your step by step appears _________________ Paul
