my largest pygmy cham has took too hanging from twigs, he just holds on with his front legs and dangles the rest of his body mid air, is this normal behaviour, has any one else noticed this? my initial thoughts were he is mimicking the leaves that grow from the branches but i havnt witnessed any of my others doing this, any ideas |

heres a pic tom
i was debating whether or not he/she is gravid as this ones a lot bigger than the others, this could possible explain the lack of balence but i would be suprised as their still quite small |

Aww thats a cutie, I shouldnt worry too much Matt, some of mine get into all types of weird and wondeful positions- especially when chasing food! Quite a lot of mine hang from the roof of the viv- scaring me to death. One good thing about this species which I forgot to mention is- when gravid and held in front of a spot bulb- not for too long or youll cook her- the chams become transparent, so when gravid the whole of the lower belly appears very dark, almost black in fact. You are doing the right thing keeping an eye on the cham, have a good look at its tail as this is a very good indicator of gender as well as the colouration the male takes on.
Love Jan
PS I will have a look for the pic of my males and females side by side for you. |

Hi Mattie i wouldnt worry to much, these little guys are as Jan says very acrobatic and hang all over, mine also hang offf the mesh on top of the viv, and often hang like leaves blowing in the wind infact sometimes its hard to see them they look so much like the leaves. Keep us updated on his/her development

i have a few Madagascan chams that do odd things at times, I used to worry but they are all OK. My eccentric old Mr Grumps sleeps upside down hanging on a branch by one leg, dips his butt in the water bowl drip catcher, and does all sorts. I think he is senile personally bless him. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
