what's up Adrian. i keep finding new forums. some good, and some i never revisit. i didn't know you had your own website with a forum. looks nice. i just registered.
your albigs are looking good. makes me miss my old black throat. he had such great character. i could hand feed him snails and he would ever so gently take it from my fingers. my wife could sit for hours giving him snails. how's the white throats?
my juvi's are doing well. after i seperated the group into sets of 2, no more that 2 weeks went by before i realized that Red needed his own pad and would not tolerate any roomates. so now i have three in one cage, who all suffered a bite to the tail from Red, and Red in the other cage. i set up surveillance cameras on the group of 3 so i can observe their interactions. they're all very shy and dive into their burrows at the first sight of me. so i'm going hi-tech on them.
Red is a beast. he's only 5 months old and he's roughly 30inches at 1.5LBs. the others aren't growing quite that fast. |

hey,
I've had that site for a good few months now. Mark Bayless gave me quite a few articles of his, and with his permission of course, I've put most of them up there.
I love my albigs. Although I want to work with argus incredibly bad, I will have to refrain until I can get a larger facility. I can't imagine how much food 5 argus would go through! Talk about having a hole in your wallet, eh? Haha
The whitethroats are doing quite well. The male just got done eating a large rat today. Took him a good 4-5 min., but he got it down.
Thats amazing to see how Red is getting so big. I've never noticed any dominance/aggressive issues with my albigs. I'm sure this is out of the blue, but were the resources limited within the cage? I'm pretty sure you provided many hides and multiple basking area's, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Are these argus CBB? Cause you mentioned Red being 5 months old. He's going to be a big boy if he's already 30 inches at such a young age. Good luck with that! Haha
Cheers,
Adrian _________________ www.albigularis.com |

there was plenty of hides all over the cage including several burrows they dug themselves. there was a couple different basking areas as well. however there was a favorite basking area that Red claimed for himself. the others learned quickly and i never saw them in that spot again. this next summer when i move them to the out door enclosures i'll see if he can get along and live with anyone while in a 10x12.
do you still have the crocs? |

thanks john. the amount i feed depends on if they're living outside or inside. and that ultimately depends on the season. during the summers i feed them as much as they want. the male will usually eat 3 rats, or chicken peeps, or an equal amount of seafood everyday. the female about the same but smaller sized items. here's a little video from this past August of a feed. quality isn't so great after i reduced its size, but still ok
during the winters i put them on a little diet because they don't get nearly the amount of exercise and believe it or not, Argus monitors can get fat. so they get about 2 items every other day. the juvies eat as much as they want til they become adults.
cheers
