I have just found colony of small white creatures living under a bit of wood in my cresties tank.

I had a quick look and the closest thing I can match them to are tropical woodlice.

They are 1mm or less in length.

I have taken the bit of wood that had them on out now. Do I need to get rid of these or will they be fine living in with my crestie?

I have no idea how or when they got there. Ive never seen them before and I havnt put anything new in the tank since I put it together.

Thanks

Ben

They will do nothing but good. They feed off fungi so are in effect eating molds before they do any harm. Wink

They could have come from anywhere, in the substrate, on the bark, as eggs or as adults. Dart frog keepers actively encourage them in a vivarium, even going to the extent of deliberately seeding the viv with them. They are so useful , along with tropical woodlice which do the same job, that they are referred to as vivarium custodians. Wink
