Some Rankin's i think, been putting a fair bit of thought into which lizards to get and have completely fallen for the Rankin's! I have always loved bd's but they get too big for my lil flat so i thinking that Rankin's are the way forward!
If anyone has any tips that would be great! |

No tips Mel but just have to say I'm new here too and I feel exactly the same!
Having seen the Rankins, I fell for em straight away - it was all I could do not to walk away with one then and there.
Been doing my research though and that is the best advice I have had, just do research - look up local vets, places to house them when away getas many care sheets as possible.
This place looks to be an invaluable resource - I've only been on here one day and it's been a great help and some people have already been a great help! |

Never really looked into Rankins before, but they look great. Good choice I think
Do Rankins become as tame as bearded dragons/have similar personalities? _________________ Steve P |

From what I've read and heard, they are more tame in general than beardies but not having any experience in either, I couldn't be sure.
Wonder if one of the breeders could help us in the that question? |

Hi guys!
I keep 2 female rankins (Fifi and Foofoo!) and I have to tell you how great they are! They have the funniest personalities and give you so much entertainment.!
Mine are still quite young but growing quickly, they both have their own personalities and are well worth getting. Will get sme pics up soon for you all to see.

We have a couple of rankins and they are great... really colourful (more than I thought) and very personable... They are quite tame and are pretty easy to keep... _________________ Banish Uncertainty; Affirm Strength; Hold Resolve; Expect Death - 365 Dao; Dao Happens.

Sounds great guys - just curious as I am so looking forward to getting mine(soon, very soon!!!), how much do you handle them? Do they react well to it etc?
My partner is worried about feeding them, she isnt looking forward to the live insects thing but I'm swaying her slowly!
Any advice or pointers you could lend would be wonderful! |

We handle them everyday (I handle them and the kids do also) right around feeding time (so sometimes twice a day) and they dont seem to mind at all... very friendly and almost loving... one is really up for anything and the other is a bit shy, so each has its own distinct personality... Feeding them is great and they both eat very well... one is a better eater than the other and I include greens in their viv every 2 or 3 days which they seem to like... (I got the living salads from sainsburys which include tatchoi, pakchoi, golden streak and another, some cress (living) and some rocket also living..) I also keep a nice bowl of water in the viv for them to drink from or bathe in... I think there a pics of my set up and rankins on here somewhere if you wish to look... cheers... _________________ Banish Uncertainty; Affirm Strength; Hold Resolve; Expect Death - 365 Dao; Dao Happens.

Wow! Sounds fantastic, like I say my partner is a little wary but I am looking forward to it so much. I have seen them plenty of times before and this one little Rankins Dragon I saw recently looked so lovingly after me I found it really hard to walk away.
I am spending some time over the next few days getting the viv set up and over the course of a few more days I'm looking to get things sorted hopefully with a local breeder....I can't wait now!!!
I will see if I can find pictures of your set up |
