Was she called Mary? Laughing Embarassed

Interesting though.I initially thought it was due to retaining sperm, but the article said the DNA was almost the same (although that could just mean she bred with her brother prior). I wonder why she was subsequently housed other with males?

Not sure why housed with other Male's. I believe this is just an extract from the main article. Interesting though.

I don't think she was called Mary, maybe GM! Laughing

Well i find this highly unlikely. Presumably the female was kept with a male at some point before her 3 year isolation, probably closely related to her.

I don't believe there are any other documented cases of this in captivity and presumably, if it was a evolved mechanism, it would happen all the time and we would all be rejoicing as our females laid clutches of eggs with no males required.

There has to be some rational explanation.
