play sand ?is very fine play sand ok because i keep my 2 babie ackies on it .and one is a clumsy feeder.twice now he has got a bit of sand in his mouth.he kept opening it like he was trying to get it out?
any other sands ok? ie; calci sand.any ideas .?

Personally I use corncob and a soil/sand mix in a covered tub for digging.

Because mine spends so much time sticking his face in the substrate when digging I chose not to use sand on its own due to the possibility of getting some in his eye.

I know Scott uses Calcium sand with his with no problems though.

i use 50/50 top soil/play sand mix, never had a problem.

I use B and Q playsand and the ackies eat a fair bit of it when feeding, they thrash the food about anywhere, very often in the sand, before swallowing it.
Their droppings do contain a fair bit of sand but it does them no harm.
It would do if the sand was prone to compacting.
