I have a 9 month old argus pair 'male' is 32 1/2 inches long, 'female' is 31 inches long. She is not quite as bulky which is expected. When should i possibly expect eggs? What is the best nesting material? There on dirt right now with a small % of peat moss, hold water, and burrows really well.
I'm just wondering what to expect, and don't wanna mess up anything, and risk my females health. Thanks.
Cheers,
Chad |

I also own a pair of argus and I have recently had success in breeding them. The female laid 3 clutches(april, june and august). The first one hatched out september 25th,and 11 more are still in incubation and looking good.Keep them well fed, esspecially the female ,large clutches, and large eggs(apx.2.5 inches in length) can be hard on her .i keep them in a 8foot by 4 foot enclosure ,the substrate is a mix of cypress mulch, sand, black earth, spagnum moss and oak leaves which is sprayed every morning to keep humidity high. She will start to dig 2 or 3 days before laying, looking for the best possible spot to lay. |
