while they are young and still growing you can feed as many crickets as they will eat, with the fruit I'd offer it two to three times per week. So long as they are eating a good variety it should be fine. I dust EVERY cricket feed with nutrabol.

Thanks Scott... Very Happy

We're trying out an idea that someone else on here does for their Cresteds, that is to blend your own fruit mix and freeze it in ice cube trays. So far we have Banana, Apple and Pear done and plan to add Peach, Apricot, Kiwi and Papaya too. When we get the Cresteds we can try them on them all. Smile

So if we fed the fruit and crickets on alternative days with Nutrabol on all the crickets we should be sorted? Confused I have seen someone here mention that they do this but they do it for 6 days then don't feed at all on the 7th day, do you think that would be better than just constantly feeding them? do they need a fasting day? Confused

i generally leave feeding them on sunday to give them a day rest, then continue on monday, i have tried crickets but he dont generally catch them yet. he like banana and peach mashed up in processor then i put them in icecube trays and defrost in evening. when it is defrosted i add the cgd. as he is small and young he dont eat alot anyway, but this way i can see what he has eaten

I feed my babies every other day and my adults 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) i offer crickets once a week (i dont offer crickets to babies until they are 2 months old).
The cubes are a great idea for small collections of rhacs but when there are alot of mouths to feed in different cages then i is easier to just mix up the food when its needed.

Thanks guys, though it doesn't really answer my question, I know some people do feed them every day and some miss the 7th day and some just feed a couple or three times a week but what I want to know is what's best? Confused or doesn't it make much or any difference?

Also, will the Nutrabol on all the crickets see them right for calcium/vitamins?.. Confused

My feeding regime for all my Rhacs is:

Firstly, it depends how old they are. I feed my adults, crickets once/twice a week. The crickets are dusted with calcium carbonate and Nutrobal (multi-vitamin). They also get waxmoths every now and again. I feed hatchling Cresteds crickets two or three times a week so they get their food dusted that many times.

I feed mine fruit pulp (or babyfood) once/twice a week. This is dusted with calcium carbonate. I give mine roughly a teaspoon each of the fruit in a bowl. When I have hatchlings/youngsters I give them theirs in the lid of a milk carton (they will eat about a third of a teaspoon). Flavours like apple, banana, peach, pear, apricot are favourites with my adults. They also love fresh figs. Most fruits are ok for Cresteds except citrus fruit. Before I made my own fruit pulp I used Heinz organic mixed fruits babyfood.

So basically I feed my adult Cresteds every other day (if they are on a twice weekly cricket feed they only get fruit once and vice versa) and then they have a fast period. For example: day 1 - fruit, day 2 - nothing, day 3 - fruit, day 4 - nothing, day 5 - crickets, day 6 - nothing, day 7 - nothing, day 8 - nothing, then it will be a crickets week. Babies/youngsters are fed the same way except they don't have a fasting period (in other words I feed them every other day).

I think a fasting period for adults is neccessary. In the wild they wouldn't be fed constantly, only when they find over-rippened fruits or a roach (or whatever) crosses their path. We as hobbyists tend to spoil our geckos. I'm sure others will disagree with me, but his works well for me.

Thanks... Very Happy

Isn't Nutrabol for Calcium and Vitamins though?.. Confused ...or is there not enough calcium with just Nutrabol?

Do I need to use Calcium carbonate and if so where do I get it? Confused

I have read that you can overdose on using multivitamins, which is why I only use them once a week. I get a tub of pure calcium carbonate from the local chemist (it comes in a large tub for about £7). I believe Calypso is the same thing.
