I looked at these a while ago. Its floor space you need. The 50ltr really usefull boxes with an internal floor space of 24 inch by 12 inch, Height is about 8-9 inches. If they do a rack to accomodate this size then it looks good. When I looked into it they did not. The boxes will hang over by 4 inches.
Also check if the really useful box lids cannot be popped by a royal. Im pretty sure that they cannot but its still worth checking.
One consideration is room temp. I have chosen the wood rack route because it is a lot easier and cheaper to keep warm than a open rack.
If you can make it work the price looks good.

Yes i know they need the floor space, but they have exactly the same floor space, but with more height. So are you saying the 64L rack don't look good
All the lids are lockable, moisture, rodent and tamper proof boxes of, so will be fine
I will be using heat strips to heat, which will be controlled by thermostats. I will also put a wooden board at the back of the rack, to keep the heat in

sounds good to me
keep us updated.
It may be a relatively cheap alternative to specially made racking.
Still think the 50ltr is better if you get extra shelves you may be able to set up an incubator and hatchling boxes etc because of the extra room.
But the extra height is fine if it is what you prefer.

Only drawback i see is doesn't lids defeat the whole point of a rack? baby corns yeah lids are great cuz they get out of anything but royals etc i'd have thought drawers were more apt???

I prefer useing lids for the following reasons.
On some of the Pro racking systems keeping suitable levels of humidity is a problem. (www.Winracks.com has addressed this issue by offering lids on lids off racks)
It keeps warmth in. This is my number one reason for building a wood/melamine rack, though I will probably eventually get some stuff from winracks.
If you have a fiesty snake, It is a lot easier to take the box out of rack and have the protection of a lid.
It appears the really useful boxes (with lids on) are royal proof(please check yourselves) so being exact in rack construction is not critical(personally I have a very close fit, i use really useful 50ltr boxes)
If you are a hobbyist with a modest collection, time is not as much an issue as a breeder.

The humidity levels in Pro-racks isn't really down to lids or no lids, it's that there's a large section of mesh type stuff on each level. If it was made of a solid material it would hold the humidity the same as if the tubs had lids...

I have one of the Prohobby racks, it doesn't have the mesh, just smmoth coated metal, keeps humidity very well indeed.
I have had this rack for 6 months now and dont know how i managed without it

Sounds like some good racks out there. I imagine at the end of the day its personal preference. What works for you. I i am honest I would love a professionally made prohobby rack.
