Well the incubator has been packed away now and all the babies have hatched. Some have found new homes and the others i have kept back. Had an alright year this year, Hatched 6 Aurics and 4 ciliatus, 2 of the Aurics have come from massive adults so i am going to keep them back to see if they grow big as well (could be the start of a giant strain of gargoyles!) I think a few people have got big Aurics and i was just really curious to see if this trait is carried in the genes.
SORRY NO PICS YET AS I CANT FIND THE CAMERA!!! _________________ Play Hard |

Nice one, what hatch rate did you get?
I've still got 80+ eggs left to hatch, even collected 20 eggs last week
I'll problably drop the room temp right down in a few weeks, that should stop them breeding for their winter rest. _________________

You've had quite a good year then. I've had 8 aurics hatch, lost four eggs due to the heat and have two more eggs cooking (only laid on Sunday). The latest egg to hatch (Tuesday of this week) I'm a bit concerned about. The baby doesn't appear to be able to move it's rear legs. I'm hoping it's still recovering from hatching but only time will tell.
How many aurics have you had hatch this year Scott? _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

sorry Jackie, my post looks a little misleading, it should read 80 + rhaco eggs, (it's 90% cresteds).
Not too sure how many Aurics I've hatched, not many perhaps 20, my adults are still young and only started laying in the last 3 months or so. _________________

I have had a 70% hatchrate with the aurics and 100% with the ciliatus, i have found some of the aurics have a problem getting through the shells and normally die from being to knackered. I haven'e had many eggs this year though. Have some fresh females for breeding next year so i should get alot more eggs. _________________ Play Hard |
