I came across this topic on another forum and thought it might interest people on here. At the moment the only information I've read is the highlights of a transcript of the talk, which was given by Aaron Bauer on his research on the taxonomy of the geckos on New Caledonia. The results are very interesting - it'll change the genre of Rhacodactylus as it currently exists. Basically there will only be two true Rhacodactylus species - leachianus and trachyrhynchus. All the others will be placed in other geckos genus or will have new a new genus of their own (ciliatus and sarasinorum being together in the 'new' genus).

There's isn't a great deal of information but have a look through a this topic:

I know. I suppose the general habitat information will be the same, just the actual make up of the species is different.

I can see why they are putting Sara's and Cresteds together, do you know the other groupings?

Chahoua are going to be placed in with the Eurydactylodes. It's something to do with the scalation and the egg type they lay.

Leachianus will be one species. The henkeli simply being known as an Island type of leachianus leachianus. They will keep the Rhacodactylus name.

Gargoyles will be in another group but which one isn't decided yet.

I wonder what they'll call the sarasinorum and ciliatus genus.
