hi, i thought i read somewhere that mealworms canot be fed to babies as they can eat there way out of their stomachs, is this true or is it ok to leave a bowl of mealworms in a babies tank.
wont the mealworms escape from the bowl and also will they still eat crickets and locusts and silkworms etc when i put them in or will they juust eat the mealworms and be full?
input appreciated

Hi Sam,
Mealworms eating out of stomachs is just a myth. Baby leo's are fine on the right size mealworms and will grow real quick on them.
They may get lazy and choose mealworms in preference to other prey items but that's not normally a problem.
You're right about the bowl, they will escape unless you choose one that they can't, try something slightly deeper, test it to make sure the mealworms can't escape but any lizard can. _________________

You can use veg, I use dog biscuit (soaked into a porridge) or I also use a dead rodent, let them eat a dead mouse then I feed the mealworms to the lizards. _________________

Depends how many mealworms you have, I guess a shop bought tub would be ok on a pinkie (I use an med rat for 1 kilo of giant mealworms).
Also, use one or the other method at a time, not both as you want the food eaten within a day or two. _________________
