Been breeding multi's for a few months now and basically decided to stop (food chewers and a general pain!), anyway I bought a few large spare males home to try on some non feeding royals (800g females, not fed for 2 months) and amazingly each python fed straight away on them, cinnamon female has refused mice & rats of all sizes, dead/live etc but took three Multi's straight away, as did some female pastels...I wish I tried them a few months back they may of reached breeding size if I had!

anyway....just thought I'd share that with you guys Laughing

The Multi's are originally from Africa, may be part of their "food programming", or just they just fancied something new!

Wish they worked on all the difficult feeders!

Cheers

both of mine will happily take multiple multis or mice but turn their noses up at rats every time Ive tried

the only way i can get them to take a rat is to get an obliging multi to christen it before feeding

Right, it's been over 10 days now, they've all had at least three feeds and not refused a single multi. I tried a rat with a few last night and NO interest but swapping for a multi two minutes later and bang! straight back on the food Laughing

Just think, I nearly got rid of my multimammate colony a few weeks back Embarassed Laughing

Scott , MM are well known over here (Holland that is) for being attractive to many poorly feeding snakes. Apparently they smell better Very Happy
Only problem is that sometimes when you feed them MMs they'll start to refuse rats. So basically I don't feed MMs unless the animal really isn't interested in rats. MMs are just more difficult to get in large numbers year round. But I do have a colony and a bunch in the freezer Smile

yeah I've seen loads of mm's at the various shows, that's where I bought my starting stock.

I'm not a big fan of breeding them as they just seem to be bad food 'chewers' and empty the hoppers just for fun (boredom?)

The royal won't eat any size rat, although was on rats before being shipped over, obviously I'm keen to get her back onto rats and try each feed.

I like Multi's they are nice and chunky and seem to be preferred by my fussy ones, though most of the others will take either when they are feeding, I have to agree with the food thing, a complete pain in the butt! and they bite hard too!... I now have a pair of rats to start breeding Laughing I could get into rodents big time!
