Hi All,
Had my first 2 crested hatchlings 2 days ago! so exciting.
Just wanted a bit of advice on when to start feeding them and the best food to start with.
Also is there any baby food to avoid.....notice alot of the fruit ones has rice as an ingrediant - is this safe??
Many thanks.
Roger. |

hi Roger, well done.
I offer food the following day but in the form of CGD mixed with a tiny amount of Banana & Peach baby food. I also offer crickets within a week or so.
I'd try and steer away from rice baby foods, certainly for youngsters. _________________

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Is that like the sandfire crested food??
Also they were hatched 2 days ago and the first one 3 days ago.......and have not been fed yet - will this have affected them (will feed them straight away tonight after work).
Reason I did not feed them the next day is I read a forum elsewhere that said wait around 4 days to feed them but I thought that seemed wrong?
Thanks. |

yep it's the T-rex snadfire food.
they sometimes won't feed for a week but it certainly doesn't hurt to introduce the CGD food from day one, no loss if they don't eat it but it's there if they are ready to feed.
It's just livefoods I wouldn't introduce to soon. _________________

Hi there, I feed my baby cresties a day after their first shed. No2 crickets and pear baby food - they love it! I am always worried that they might drown themselves in the water bowl, so now have a coke bottle top with water and a marble placed in it - create's a little rim of water, just have to be very careful to keep topping it up! Good luck |

Just to cut down on any potential stress really, if the crested isn't going to eat crickets then they could annoy / stress or even try and eat it.
As BlueCoral says too be carefull with the water bowls, make sure they can climb out if they drop in (crickets and geckos ) _________________

Hi All,
Thanks for all the replies.
I got some CGD last night and fed them some.......They both took some but then got annoyed and started rubbing it off their mouths agaisnt my fingers!
I have the water in a coffee lid jar filled up by only a few cm.
Thanks. |
