Found one of my hatchling Philodryas dead yesterday morning. Don't know if this was direct/indirect cause of death but definitely wierd!!
Maybe it wanted to remember something!
Cheers

My first thought would be she had been spasming and got herself all tied up but died before sorting herself out. Very weird and fascinating all at the same time... _________________ TFA

that's certainly an interesting photo...
Doesn't look like cause of death does it? (no swelling or bruising) perhaps as Dan said some kind of fit killed it. _________________

I agree it's unlikely to be the direct cause. Knowing how fragile some of these hatchlings are, I assumed it was stress related.
Was a nice striped animal too!

What a shame. I too would have thought spasms or perhaps some kind of fit or neurological fault would have caused the tangle.
Certainly a very interesting picture. Thanks for sharing. It`s a shame PM`s are so expensive. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

The others are doing fine, over half feeding from the off (two clutches 19 mouths to feed, 18 now!), all but two 2 of the rest, tease feeding. That's a great percentage for P. baroni, in my experience.
With regards pm's.... I find my animals always die on the 'hot spot', I doubt anything useful would come from these, on the odd occasion they don't "cook" I get pm's done. I have a really great vet, reasonable costs, reptile experienced, willing to discuss and a real world approach to treatments, so pm's aren't prohibitive.
Have to say I really couldn't believe it when I saw the knot!!
Cheers
