This is our ickle baby salvator. We got him at the weekend. He's keeping a very low profile at the moment, so we've left him to settle in. When should we think about handling him? |

Lovely, where did you get him?
There's a lot around at the moment, I have one that I picked up about 8 weeks ago. It was a bit of a problem to get him started with food, but it's now eating with gusto.
All of the ones that I have seen around are quite timid, don't worry this will soon wear off. Just keep feeding, keep it clean and you'll soon be able to interact with it.

He's from Snakes 'n' Adders in Leeds. Thanks Chaz and Matt!
He doesn't seem to be eating a great deal at the moment, but we're offering him plenty of variety, so hopefully when he's settled in a bit things will improve. He did have a 4 hour car journey from Leeds, so he's bound to have been stressed! |

real nice, try to make sure he stays accustomed to you though, I had a 6ft one that was just plain evil. He even broke out his viv thru an air vent, smashed up a hamster cage and ate the hamster. He then went up a gas flu in the wall and we had to take down half the wall to find him (that was after someone climbed up on the roof and blocked the chimney). _________________

Thanks guys-I'll get some better pics once he settles in a bit. He just hides all the time at the moment. Should I leave him alone a bit longer, or start handling him?
Scott-I hope he never goes mental like yours did!! |

I hope he doesn't
With regards to him settleing in, if he's feeding and basking then he'll be fine. My mistake was placing the viv in a very quiet room so he never got used to people. _________________
